NYSC Camp For 2nd Stream To Open Sept 1st

The National Youth Service Corps NYSC has introduced two streams for the 2014 Batch ‘B’ service year. This innovation is not unconnected to increase in population of corpse members without corresponding facilities.

At the Ipaja NYSC orientation camp in Lagos, the first stream commenced their orientation on 5th August, 2014, just as the second stream are expected to resume orientation programme on 1st September 2014 at the same venue.
During the first stream, a total of 1,977 comprising of 837 males and 1140 females registered. Addressing the corps members at the opening and swearing-in ceremony, the Lagos State Coordination, Mrs Adenike Adeyemi lauded the zeal exhibited by the corps member saying that have proven to be responsible, resourceful and dedicated.

She informed them that during the programme, they will be undergoing various trainings which are designed to inculcate discipline in them and give them the platform to exhibit leadership qualities.
Adeyemi explained that through participation in camp administration, inter-platoon competitions, paramilitary drills, physical fitness exercises, skill acquisition and entrepreneurship development their best potentials will be maximized. She urged the corps members to avail themselves of the training opportunities to get better.

She said: “Work on developing any quality that you think you need until you have perfected it, then move on and practice another. You can become anything you want to become, leaders know what they want and set out to make it happen.
“You cannot rise to the pinnacle of success without developing the right set of attitudes and habits, therefore make every day spent on this camp a masterpiece as you add value to yourself through the orientation course.

Mrs Adeyemi who lauded the governor of Lagos state for his generous support for the scheme, however appealed to Governor Babatunde Fashola to consider the provision of more spacious permanent orientation camp for the NYSC.
Meanwhile, Governor Babatunde Fashola who spoke through the Commissioner for Special Duty, told corps members that though the call to serve might be challenging, it will afford them the honour to contribute to national development as well as help to bring out their hidden potentials. He urged them to put in fresh ideas and new drive to support the government through their dedication to service.

NYSC Announces The Redeployment Of Corps Members From Seven Northern States.

 

The National Youth Service Corps on Thursday announced the redeployment of corps members from seven northern states.
The affected states are Adamawa, Bauchi, Borno, Gombe, Jigawa, Kano and Yobe states.
A statement on Thursday in Abuja by the Director of Public Relations in NYSC, Mrs. Bose Aderibigbe, said the decision followed the high rate of insecurity in some parts of the North.
The corps members are part of the  2014 Batch ‘B’ Orientation Course  scheduled to commence next week Tuesday August 5, 2014.
The NYSC said due to logistic reasons, the orientation course will be conducted in two streams for different states.
The Stream One exercise will be conducted  from Tuesday, August 5 to Tuesday, August 26 2014 in Lagos, Ondo, Ekiti, Kwara, Oyo, Niger, Abia, Akwa Ibom, Anambra, Benue, Bayelsa, Cross River, Delta, Ebonyi, Edo, Enugu, FCT, Imo, Kebbi, Kaduna, Kogi, Katsina, Nasarawa, Ogun, Plateau, Rivers, Sokoto, Taraba and Zamfara states.
Corps members posted to states listed in the Stream One category will undergo the orientation course in their respective states of deployment.
The statement explained that the Stream Two exercise, meant for the affected northern states, had been scheduled for Monday, September 1, 2014 to Monday, September 22, 2014.
Corps members posted to Adamawa State will have their orientation programme in Niger; Bauchi corps members are expected to resume in Plateau State orientation camp while those posted to Borno State are to proceed to the Nasarawa State  camp.
Other affected states are Gombe, where corps members are expected to serve in Benue and Jigawa State corps members are expected to have their orientation programme in Kaduna.
Corps members posted to Yobe State are expected to resume at the Federal Capital Territory Orientation camp.
The NYSC said corps members posted to Kano State would be notified of the state of their orientation in due course while those posted to Osun State will serve in Osun for the second stream of the exercise.

Lagos is going to have Two streams (I and II), both will take place in Lagos NYSC Camp.

The camp addresses and the reporting dates will be printed on your callup letters. You are therefore advised to stick to that.
