EBSU Announces 2014/2015 Post Utme Supplementary Screening



Ebonyi State University wishes to invite all candidates who scored 180 and above in the 2014/2015 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), but who did NOT choose Ebonyi State University (EBSU), Abakaliki and those who chose EBSU but failed to write our first Post UTME of 1/8/14, to now apply to register/process for our Supplementary Post-UTME from Friday, 8th August – Thursday, 28th August, 2014.This exercise is strictly for candidates as above, and similar Direct Entry candidates with a minimum of OND/OD Upper Credit, who are NOT already admitted in their institution of initial choice.

(vii)Thereafter, your acknowledgement slip will be displayed.

(viii)Print and keep your acknowledgement slip for later reference/use.

* Two clear copies (with clear picture) of their Post UTME ACKNOWLEDGEMENT SLIP

Direct entry candidates who chose EBSU and possess a minimum of OND/OD upper credit are also to participate in this online screening exercise for the purpose of screening/verification of their O/Level results only. These candidates are NOT required to write the screening test.

Australian Govt Awards Scholarship To 19 Nigerians



19 Nigerian Students Get Australian Govt Scholarship Award

Australian High Commissioner to Nigeria, Jonathan Richardson has disclosed that 19 Nigerian candidates have been selected for scholarship award to do their Masters in his country in 2015.

The envoy who disclosed this at the launch of the North West and North East zones of the Australian Institutions Alumni Association in Kaduna, said between 2010 and 2014, more than 200 scholarhip awards had been granted Nigerian students, including 86 for postgraduate studies by the Australian government.

He described the Australian scholarship awards as offering both long and short term study and professional development opportunities to citizens from developing countries around the world, which he said was aimed at providing enhanced leadership, knowledge and technical skills to partner governments, tertiary institutions and strategic organizations driving sustainable development.

Speaking on the award programme, Richardson who was represented by the third secretary of the commission in Nigeria Mr. Matthew Mechan further disclosed that a total of 923 Nigerian students were enrolled in Australian universities and vocational education programmes by the end of May 2014, nearly doubling the number in 2013.

“We want to encourage Nigerians interested in studying abroad to consider Australia as an option, given the strong record and high quality of our universities and tertiary institutions,” he stated, , adding that a new round of Australia Awards would open for applications in September, 2014.

Flood Kills Ofar Poly Senior Lecturer

It was a gory tale on Thursday in Ede, Osun State, when a heavy rainfall, which lasted over four hours, claimed the life of a senior lecturer of the Federal Polytechnic Offa, Adeniyi Adebowale, who was washed away in his car by a raging flood.
The tragic incident was said to have occurred at Oke Gada community, in Ede, the  headquaters of Ede North  local government area around the evening period.
A credible source informed Sunday Tribune that the deceased, aged 45, was coming back home from Offa and had almost reached his private residence when the flood submerged his Toyota Camry saloon car.

The source, who pleaded anonymity, told our correspondent that “the deceased was a senior lecturer in the Department of Computer Science, Federal Polytechnic, Offa, Kwara State and he was returning  from Offa to Ede, his home town, for the weekend when he ran into the flood.”

Another reliable source at the scene of the incident said  that Adebowale was driving in his Toyota Camry car with registration number LSD783CA and entered into a swampy area with heavy water, following which the car got submerged in the water.

When our residence visited the scene on Friday, the car of the victim was spotted with the registration plate number already removed, while his corpse had been retrieved and deposited in an undisclosed morgue.
According to the source, “the deceased communicated with his wife, Mrs Sade
Adebowale few minutes before the incident happened. The deceased had been warned not to take the swampy road by other drivers plying the road, but he ignored their warning and went ahead to go through the road”.

Reacting to the development, the Osun State Commissioner for Environment, Mrs Olubukola Oyawoye who said she had visited the scene of the incident and the family of the deceased cautioned people  in the state against blocking drainages and water channels with debris and other junks.

An ANSU Final Year Student Arrested During a Cult Initiation

A Final year Microbiology Student of the Anambra State University has been arrested alongside Onyema Collins a graduate of the Institute of Management of Technology, Enugu and a police Constable during a cult initiation process in Abavo, a neighboring town to Owa-Oyibu in Ika South Local Government Area of delta state.

According to the information, that the cult members obviously delighted at the thought of initiating new members in to the cult started shooting sporadically in the air.

This alerted residents and members of the community who in response contacted a team of Joint Task Force (JTF) deployed to Agbor.

The JTF team immediately mobilized and the three suspects were arrested while others escaped.

The suspects have so far confessed to the crime and have also revealed that the Police Constable caught with them has aided their activities by supplying arms and ammunition.

MAPOLY Notice on 40% Payment Deadline and Late Registration Fee

The Management of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta has announced the deadline for the payment of 40% balance on school fees for the 2013/2014 academic session.

Affected Full Time and Part Time ND and HND students, have between Monday, 30th June and midnight of Saturday, 23rd August, 2014 to make the payment of the balance on school fees.

Meanwhile, late registration for the semester, which will attract a penalty fee of N5,000.00, commences on Monday, 25th August and ends on Saturday, 6th September, 2014.

Any student, who fails to abide by this deadline, would have forfeited his/her studentship of the Polytechnic for the semester.

Students are therefore enjoined to avail themselves of the opportunities provided by the Management to complete their registration on time.

Their appointments were last week Wednesday confirmed by the Senate.

UNILAG Student Shot By Unknown Gunmen

A final year Student of Philosophy in the University of Lagos was hit by a bullet fired by unidentified gunmen on Monday.

According to eyewitness a car was seen zooming off immediately after the shooting. It is suspected that the shot must have been fired by the occupants of the car.

Commenting on this, the Dean of Students’ Affairs of the University, Prof. Olukayode Amund, confirmed that Sapara was indeed shot and is currently receiving treatment at the hospital.

According to him investigations are on ground to uncover the perpetrators of the crime.

General Entry Requirements:
Applicant must:
Satisfy the Moshood Abiola Polytechnic entry requirements for each relevant National Diploma Programme;

Pass at not below Lower Credit in the relevant National Diploma Programmes from accredited programmes/Institutions and have completed one year post National Diploma relevant work experience (evidence of industrial work experience is required).

Applicants with a pass at ND level plus two (2) years post qualification cognate experience could be considered for admission;

Request his/her former Institution to send transcripts of his academic record to the Registrar, Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta;

Applicants who obtained their National Diploma (ND) from other Polytechnics with Pre-ND as their entry qualification shall not be admitted. Also post-qualification School Certificate ordinary level results are not admissible.

Applicants with National Diploma in Banking and Finance and Accounting Technician Scheme (ATS) Certificates are not qualified for admission into HND Accountancy Programme.

Registration of candidates for the 2014/2015 post UTME screening of the Federal University of Oye Ekiti has begun. Details as follows:

1.0 POST-UTME TESTS
The Federal University Oye-Ekiti has scheduled its 2014/2015 Post-UTME Screening tests to hold from Monday 28th to Thursday 31st July, 2014.

2.0 VENUE
Federal University Oye-Ekiti, Ekiti State

3.0 ELIGIBILITY
Candidates who obtained the UTME cut-off scores of 180 and above who chose Federal University Oye-Ekiti as their first choice.

4.0 REGISTRATION FEE
Each candidate will be required to pay Two Thousand Naira (N2,000.00) only, excluding bank charges as Registration fee. Payment could be made through e-transact or inter-switch.

FG Sites a new Federal Polytechnic in Rivers State

The Federal government has approved the establishment of a new federal polytechnic in Rivers State.

Commenting on this the Supervising Minister of Education, Chief Ezenwo Nyesom Wike said the new polytechnic will be named Federal Polytechnic of Oil and Gas and will be sited in Bonny, Rivers state.

The approval came with N1billion as take of grant.

The administrative officers of the polytechnic have been named as follows; Professor Elijah will be the Rector; Mr. Willabo A. Gilbert, the Registrar; Mr Akpomeyoma Gabriel is the Bursar and Mr Ata John Woke Ajala will be the polytechnic librarian.

This is to inform the general public that the Management of Cross River University of Technology, Calabar has not increased Students’ fees and the current fee regime is still in operation. Parents, students and the general public should please note the following:

a. The policy of “no fees no examinations” will be fully implemented in all examinations with effect from First Semester 2013/2014 academic session.

b. Examinations, earlier scheduled to commence on July 7, 2014, will now start on July 21st, 2014 to allow Parents and Students pay all outstanding fees.

c. Consequently, CRUTECH Management has approved a one-week break with effect from July 7 – July 13, 2014 to enable indebted Students source and pay all their outstanding fees.

d. The University portal which is now open will finally close on July 19th, 20014 for the payment of fees.

e. Failure to pay all outstanding fees at the close of the portal will earn the Student an automatic carry-over of all the semester courses to the next session.

f. Parents should please demand for evidence of fees paid by their wards as many students having received money for this purpose have refused to pay.

g. CRUTECH Management is prepared to enforce the policy of “no fees no examinations” as it cannot survive, like any other University in the world, without fee payment by students.

h. Parents, Student and the general public are urged to co-operate with CRUTECH Management to make the University achieve the dreams of its founding fathers.
